NXT TakeOver WarGames 2020: Match Card, Start Time, And How To Watch
NXT is going ahead with the 2020 edition of TakeOver WarGames. Here’s everything you need to know about the show.
NXT’s TakeOver calendar has been thrown into disarray in 2020. After seeing two TakeOvers during the pandemic, we honestly thought we’d have to wait until 2021 to see another. However, the black and gold brand caught us unawares and revealed that on December 6, 2020, WarGames returns. The show will air live, exclusively on the WWE Network starting at 7 pm ET with a 30-minute preshow beforehand. Here are all of the matches announced for the card so far.
Sasha Banks Wants A Match With NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray
Undisputed ERA vs. The Kings of NXT in a WarGames Match
In hindsight, everything going on between these eight men makes it now seem obvious that NXT was building to another WarGames event. What other way would there have been to settle the differences between these two teams? Pat McAfee and his Kings of NXT have been taking out Undisputed ERA one by one. Adam Cole and his boys are now back, and they’re looking for revenge. They also have a lot of experience in WarGames matches, but so does Pete Dunne.
Team Shotzi vs. Team Candice in a WarGames Match
This year’s WarGames was technically announced by none other than Shotzi Blackheart. Blackheart who was shown in a workshop where she issued the challenge to Candice LeRae, telling her that the pair will be going to war. Each woman has been tasked with selecting their own teams of three. LeRae has gone with Dakota Kai, Raquel Gonzalez, and Toni Storm who turned heel and aligned herself with the other three. Ember Moon, Rhea Ripley, and Io Shirai have aligned themselves with Blackheart.
Leon Ruff vs. Johnny Gargano vs. Damian Priest for the NXT North American Championship
Leon Ruff pulled off one of the biggest shocks of the year by beating Johnny Gargano for the North American Title. However, despite getting a massive assist from Damian Priest, the victory has gone to his head. Ruff now believes he can defend the title against both Gargano and Priest at the same time. That match will go down at WarGames, and Ruff will be hoping his opponents will take each other out, or at least he should be.
Dexter Lumis vs. Cameron Grimes in a Strap Match
Dexter Lumis and Cameron Grimes have clashed inside of a haunted house, in the ring with blindfolds on, and at WarGames, the two of them will be strapped together. Being tethered to Lumis will be the last thing Grimes wants, hence why this match has been booked. If it follows the traditional rules of a strap match, then the winner will need to drag their opponent to each corner of the ring without being interrupted.
Timothy Thatcher vs. Tomasso Ciampa
Considering how little he has actually done since arriving in NXT, Timothy Thatcher is getting a little big for his boots. Clearly, Tomasso Ciampa agrees with that and is dead set on doing something about it. Ciampa continually butting in on Thatcher’s business will come to a head this weekend when the two of them clash at TakeOver.
